File-Based Camera Acquisition Solutions
Whether you are an editor working with a high-efficiency Long GOP format or a filmmaker working with 4K files from a RED ONE camera, tapeless acquisition can add new levels of speed and flexibility to your production process. Avid Media Composer editing systems let you take full advantage of file-based media with Open Timeline technology, integrated media management tools, and best-of-breed metadata support. Working with Sony XDCAM HD in the field - XDCAM HD proxy support
When you're editing on the go, you're usually limited to your laptop storage. Typically, this can't handle the amount of material recorded at the higher data rates of the Sony XDCAM MPEG-2 HD codec. With Avid Media Composer software, you can use the efficient low-resolution MPEG-4 proxies also created by XDCAM devices. When the edit is final, the proxy media is replaced with the corresponding high-resolution media using an easy batch reimport process in either a Media Composer or Symphony Nitris DX system.
