NC 101A Editing with Avid NewsCutter - ALEX Value Add

Overview:
This two-day course introduces the concepts of nonlinear editing and includes all basic features of the Avid News Cutter system for Windows. Session time is divided between demonstration and hands-on practice, with ample time for experimentation with sample news material. Students will use Avid News Cutter to capture and organize source footage, edit, trim sequences, edit audio, and output work. The final product will be a finished Voice Over, Voice Over/Bite, and Package. Students will also be trained, where appropriate, with Avid Workgroup components Media Manager, NRCS and Airspeed. The course is appropriate for News Cutter Adrenaline and News Cutter XP Users. Includes two additional ALEX online courses per student to use for review before, during, or after class: NC 101 Editing with Avid NewsCutter, and WG 201 Avid Interplay for Editors.

Prerequisites:
No familiarity with the system is necessary. A background in editing, and specifically in news production is strongly recommended.
