Overview:
Deko operators learn to take advantage of the programming power of macros and create graphics using databases as a rich source of timely data. This is a technical introduction for both programmers and non-programmers to bridge the gap between "recording keystrokes for a macro" and more sophisticated programming. Though this course is designed for the non-programmer, it is a moderately technical course.
Audience:
Experienced CG operators, Deko art designers and broadcast programmers who want to tap into the power of macros and databases.
What you will learn:
- String and integer variables
- Using arithmetic operators in macros
- How to use the Commands Reference effectively
- Using the getstring and getnum commands to obtain data from an operator
- How to use the Prompt window to assist in building macros
- Using Comparison operators for if, else and end statements
- Programming with conditional commands
- How to set up a loop in a macro
- How to customize widely-used, popular macros
- Using arrays in macros
- Using Excel spreadsheets and simple Access database for data
- How to register an ODBD database
- Create a simple graphic that updates directly from a database
- Retrieve data from a database, manipulate the data and create a graphic
- Create a macro that retrieves fields from a database to build multiple graphics
Prerequisites:
Attendees should review the macro concepts in the Deko User Guide before attending. Database familiarity is helpful.
